Florence - Day 10

Good day in Florence again today!

Pictures are below of what we did today...

A thought: so we have spent some money being over here. :) It is all "liquid" though — what I mean is that of for all we've spent, we don't really have much tangible to show for it. Well, at least not the shopping bags full of "things" that we see others walking by with. It's more the moments/places we are spending money on (and hotels and trains). Christopher and I discussed earlier today how you cannot see the David statue in Nashville. You cannot see the Ponte Vecchio bridge that has been a part of Florence since the 900s!!! You cannot see the first piano from 1690 — not even in Music City!  …which then brings me back to one of the main reasons why I am blogging. I don't want to forget these moments, and what better way than with photos?  Full bellies, breathtaking moments, and lots or R&R through photos...proves why we are here. So, we have had many moments.  Here is a list of the places and moments we have enjoyed so far from Florence:

• Rick Steve’s Renaissance Walk
• Duomo baptistry and bell tower
• Santa Maria Novella
• Piazza della Signoria (natural amphitheater)
• National Library
• Duomo dome climb
• Duomo self-guided tour
• Duomo museum
• Mercato Nuovo (boar fountain)
• Uffizi Gallery
• Palazzo Vecchio
• Ponte Vecchio (bridge)
• Museum of San Marco
• Accademia (David)
• Medici Chapel
• Medici Palace
• Basilica of San Lorenzo
• San Lorenzo Market
• Central Market

And many more to come over the next 3 days.

Ok, on to pictures:

Accademia....Michelangelo's statue, David (Shhhh...dont tell anyone I snuck a picture) :)

First piano in the case behind Christopher

Oval Spinet - 1690

San Marco Museum....hmmm :)

San Marco Museum

San Marco Museum - there were probably 30 of these choir books with art inside. One letter written on these pages  was a piece of art. Let alone the pieces of art they put in the songbook

Savonarola chair...now I know all about this chair (at least the man behind the chair) thanks to this museum.

I gave this museum a thumbs down... :)

The Central Market

Medici Palace Gardens...I enjoyed this place a lot

Medici Palace...amazing Murano (Venice island) glass chandeliers

Jessica Brown - we need to totally do this. Its random pieces of yarn/cloth that they made rugs out of and we hanging in this shop, Flair. I think they were around 5,000EUR each.

Again, another cool rug from Flair
